Winter Solstice for a Stronger Body

Tomorrow is the winter solstice, and I believe many people have already celebrated it with family meals over the weekend. The winter solstice is the shortest day of the year, when yin energy peaks, signifying the gradual increase of yang energy thereafter, counting down to spring.

The winter solstice marks the arrival of the coldest time of the year, so the focus of health preservation is "keeping warm" and "conserving." It is advisable to pay attention to keeping warm, prevent the invasion of external evils, avoid overexertion, and go to bed early and wake up late to avoid disturbing the yang energy stored within.

The deeper the body's yang energy is sealed and stored, the more vigorous the yang energy will rise in the coming spring, and the stronger the body will be.

To strengthen your constitution and improve your ability to resist cold, you can simply prepare 5 grams of Astragalus, 5 grams of Angelica sinensis, and 10 grams of longan. Wash the ingredients, place them in a thermos, add hot water, and steep for 15 minutes before drinking.

Astragalus is sweet, slightly warm, and enters the spleen and lung meridians. It can replenish qi and raise yang, strengthen the wei-qi and consolidate the exterior, promote urination and reduce swelling, and promote tissue regeneration. It can enhance physical fitness and improve immunity, especially beneficial for those prone to colds and with weak constitutions. Angelica sinensis is sweet and pungent, warm in nature, and enters the liver, heart, and spleen meridians. It can nourish blood, invigorate blood, regulate menstruation, relieve pain, and moisten the intestines. Longan is sweet, warm in nature, and enters the heart and spleen meridians. It can benefit the heart and spleen, invigorate the appetite and strengthen the spleen, nourish blood and calm the mind, replenish deficiencies and enhance intelligence, and invigorate yang and qi.

Before bed, you can soak your feet in warm water around 40 degrees Celsius, which helps promote blood circulation, improve cold hands and feet, and aid sleep. The kidney, liver, and spleen meridians all originate from the feet, so foot soaking can also warm the meridians and unblock the collaterals, nourish the kidneys and preserve essence, and strengthen the body.
