Seasonal Peach Tea

Following the seasons for food, last week I bought a few Japanese peaches, which were fresh, sweet, and juicy. I prefer to chill them slightly before eating, especially ripe peaches, which have an even better texture and sweeter taste when chilled.

Many fruits are suitable for making tea, and peaches are one of the most common. Simply wash the fuzz off the peach skin with salt water, slice half a peach (with skin) thinly, add a black tea or oolong tea bag, and steep with hot water for 5 minutes before drinking.

Peaches are sweet and sour in taste, warm in nature, and enter the liver and large intestine meridians. They can promote fluid production, moisten the intestines, invigorate blood, relieve asthma, and lower blood pressure. They are suitable for people with sallow complexion, emaciation, palpitations, shortness of breath, constipation, blood stasis, swelling, pain, and amenorrhea. Peaches contain protein, high fiber, sugar, and other nutrients, and have effects such as promoting bowel movements, moistening the intestines, invigorating blood circulation, and moisturizing the skin. The rich iron and potassium content can help improve iron-deficiency anemia and lower blood pressure. However, please note that they are not suitable for individuals with a "hot" body constitution or those prone to boils.

Pairing with black tea and oolong tea offers slightly different benefits. After being picked, tea leaves go through many steps before they can be consumed. Different degrees of fermentation create variations in tea color and aroma. Generally, the deeper the fermentation, the milder the tea's nature, while completely unfermented teas are relatively cooling.

Oolong tea, also known as Qing tea (blue-green tea), is a semi-fermented tea with a moderate nature, suitable for people of different constitutions. It can promote fat metabolism and help relieve greasiness.

Black tea is a fully fermented tea, which is warming in nature, making it suitable for people with a "cold" body constitution, such as the elderly. It can nourish the stomach, warm the body, lower lipids, and reduce blood pressure.
