Start with nourishing the kidneys

In the new year, many people set new goals for themselves. If you want to be healthy, in addition to exercising more, it's recommended to start by nourishing your kidneys.

How important is kidney nourishment? People with poor kidney health may have difficulty conceiving, age prematurely, experience hair loss and graying hair, blurred vision, tinnitus, and more. The kidneys are considered the innate foundation of the body and the root of the five zang organs. They govern growth and development, reproductive function, and defense against disease.

The kidneys store essence, which includes innate essence and acquired essence. Innate essence is inherited from parents and is the foundation of the body. Acquired essence is derived after birth, relying on the spleen and stomach for its production, and provides the nutrients necessary to sustain human life. These two types of essence complement and depend on each other, replenishing each other to ensure abundant kidney essence. When kidney essence is sufficient, kidney qi is vigorous; when kidney essence is deficient, kidney qi weakens. As the human body enters middle age, the essence and qi in the kidneys begin to decline, leading to gradual aging.

To nourish the kidneys and prevent aging, prepare 10 grams each of black beans, black sesame, and prepared fleeceflower root (He Shou Wu). Cut the fleeceflower root into small pieces to help release its flavor. Wash all ingredients, place them in a thermos, add hot water, and steep for 30 minutes before drinking. This tea can nourish the liver and kidneys, enrich the blood, darken hair, and delay aging.

Black beans are sweet in taste, neutral in nature, and enter the spleen and kidney meridians. They can nourish the kidneys and yin, promote blood circulation and diuresis, dispel wind and detoxify, and improve lower back pain due to kidney deficiency.

Black sesame seeds are sweet in taste, neutral in nature, and enter the liver, kidney, and large intestine meridians. They can nourish the liver and kidneys, moisten the five zang organs, replenish essence and blood, nourish yin and moisten the intestines, and promote lactation.

Prepared fleeceflower root (He Shou Wu) is sweet and astringent in taste, warm in nature, and enters the liver and kidney meridians. It can replenish essence and blood, consolidate the kidneys, and darken hair.
