Emotional disaster

The "Lesser Snow" solar term is approaching, bringing colder weather, shorter daylight hours, and unpredictable conditions. Just like the name "Lesser Snow," many people's moods can become snow-like, easily affecting one's spirit and leading to feelings of depression, especially for those with a colder constitution.

Humans are born with "seven emotions and five volitions." The "seven emotions" refer to joy, anger, worry, contemplation, sorrow, fear, and fright; among these, joy, anger, worry, contemplation, and fear are called the "five volitions." Depression is often caused by stimulation of these seven emotions. The "Synopsis of the Golden Chamber" once stated, "A thousand calamities do not exceed three causes," meaning that diseases mainly arise from three causes: internal, external, and other invasions. Among these, "internal" precisely refers to emotional illnesses caused by the stimulation of the seven emotions.

Winter storage focuses on nourishing the kidneys; during Lesser Snow, the emphasis should be on warmth and moisture. Simply use 5 grams of Alpinia oxyphylla seeds and 5 longans. After washing the ingredients, steep them in hot water for 20 minutes and it's ready to drink. This tea helps expel cold from the body, warms the spleen and kidneys, nourishes blood, calms the mind, and stabilizes emotions.

Alpinia oxyphylla seeds have a pungent taste and warm nature, entering the kidney and spleen meridians; they can invigorate qi, calm the mind, warm the spleen, stimulate appetite, warm the kidneys, and consolidate essence. Longan has a sweet taste and warm nature, entering the heart and spleen meridians; it can stimulate appetite, strengthen the spleen, nourish blood, calm the mind, invigorate yang, and replenish qi. The "Huangdi Neijing" states: "All diseases arise from qi." "Qi" here refers to emotions, "anger makes qi rise, joy makes qi slow." No matter how bad the situation, do not easily let emotions affect you and lose confidence. Hong Kong people, stay strong!
