Boost Immunity

The Wuhan pneumonia outbreak has affected the entire world, and after the 2003 SARS epidemic, Hong Kong people have likely felt its impact most deeply. I recall the SARS outbreak in Hong Kong 17 years ago when I was still a student. What I remember most vividly was the extended holiday with no exams, and the calls to wash hands frequently and stay indoors. Today, as a mother, I deeply feel the fear brought by the epidemic. Not only is my son on an indefinite break from school, but every day I also have to clean with a 1:99 diluted solution, stock up on masks, food, and cleaning supplies.

When I went to the supermarket this morning to buy daily necessities, I found that not only masks, bleach, detergents, and hand sanitizers, but even Vitamin C had been snapped up. When the body is sick, it's easier for evil qi to invade, which is why everyone is rushing to buy Vitamin C. Externally, the nasal cavity, oral cavity, and respiratory tract mucous membranes are the body's first line of defense against viruses. Internally, it is essential to boost one's immunity. Even if it can't completely prevent pneumonia, it can help avoid getting the winter flu and needing to visit a clinic or hospital.

For those with qi deficiency and a weak constitution who want to enhance their body's resistance, you can use three slices of astragalus, three pitted red dates, and three grams of goji berries. After washing the ingredients, brew them with hot water for 15 minutes and drink. It can be steeped repeatedly, and consumed two to three times a week. This tea can boost immunity, replenish qi, and protect the eyes.

Astragalus is sweet in taste and warm in nature, and it acts on the spleen and lung meridians. It contains polysaccharides, various amino acids, trace elements, and folic acid, which can enhance physical fitness and boost immunity, replenish qi and lift yang, benefit wei qi and consolidate the surface, eliminate evil and strengthen the stomach. It is especially good for those prone to colds or with a weak constitution. The American journal "Nature and Science" once pointed out that astragalus extract helps improve lung inflammation and eye discomfort caused by PM2.5 fine particulate matter in the air. It should be noted that pregnant women, people with high blood pressure, or those who are already unwell should not consume it.
