What one thinks about by day, one dreams about by night.

In the blink of an eye, my son graduated from kindergarten. The night before the graduation ceremony, he was so nervous he couldn't sleep. After arriving at the graduation hall, a group of children waddled onto the stage like ducklings. As the music played, they earnestly sang the school anthem together for the last time. While they sang seriously on stage, many parents, like me, were teary-eyed in the audience, reluctantly acknowledging that their children had grown up again. At that moment, a lyric I had recently heard at a concert floated into my mind: "Children have children's fears, and adults have adults' sighs."

Life is often closely related to sleep and dreams. That night, my son faintly sang the school anthem in his sleep, which I believe indicates his endless reluctance to leave behind his kindergarten life, teachers, and classmates.

Medical research indicates that "the waking brain is best for gathering information, while the sleeping brain is best for consolidating information." This reminded me of the early days of my son learning to swim. During the day, the coach taught him to breathe on the water using the "blowing bubbles" method, and at night, while deeply asleep, he would also blow bubbles with his mouth, subconsciously reinforcing what he learned during the day.

Aside from the reason that "what you think about during the day, you dream about at night," poor sleep quality can also be influenced by excessive internal heat (xin huo). The hot summer weather can easily affect the heart, which corresponds to this internal organ, leading people to often speak of "xin huo sheng" (excessive heart fire). When heart fire is overactive, it can cause insomnia and excessive dreaming, affecting sleep quality.

When you're not sleeping well, you might try using 10 grams of lotus seeds with their cores, 10 grams of fresh lily bulbs, 10 grams of dried longan, and an appropriate amount of rock sugar. After washing the ingredients, add 500ml of hot water and boil on high heat for 10 minutes. This tea is suitable for all ages, can nourish the heart and spleen, and has the effect of calming the mind and clearing heart fire, which helps alleviate insomnia and excessive dreaming.
