Sensitive eyes
There's only one day left until the summer vacation officially ends. The change of seasons is a critical time for health. If the body fails to adjust in time, it can be susceptible to external pathogens, leading to various discomforts, most commonly allergies. Whether it's tracheal, nasal, or skin allergies, allergies affect people of all ages, and eye allergies are a common type.
I'm sure everyone has experienced sudden, inexplicable eye itching, or even bloodshot eyes. Some eye allergies can also cause a lot of eye discharge (or eye boogers). The liver opens into the eyes, and liver problems are often reflected in the eyes. Bloodshot and congested eyes can be a sign of excessive liver fire and accumulated heat.
If you experience eye discomfort caused by excessive liver fire, you can use 10 grams each of Plantago seed, stir-fried Cassia seed, and chrysanthemum. Wash the ingredients and steep them in hot water for 10 minutes before drinking. This tea helps remove toxins from the body, clears the liver, brightens the eyes, and relieves eye discomfort.
Plantago seed is sweet and cold in nature, and it enters the liver, kidney, and lung meridians. It can clear the liver and brighten the eyes, clear heat and detoxify, promote diuresis and relieve dysuria, drain dampness and stop diarrhea, and clear the lungs and resolve phlegm. It is particularly effective for liver heat with red and dim eyes.
Stir-fried Cassia seed is sweet, bitter, and salty in taste, slightly cold in nature, and enters the liver and large intestine meridians. It can lower blood pressure, clear the liver and brighten the eyes, moisten the bowels and promote defecation, and reduce fat and weight.
Chrysanthemum is sweet and bitter in taste, slightly cold in nature, and enters the lung and liver meridians. It can dispel wind and clear heat, detoxify and reduce swelling, soothe the liver and brighten the eyes, and pacify liver yang.
The liver meridian is active from 1 AM to 3 AM. Going to bed early allows blood to flow to the liver, promoting metabolism and detoxification, which helps prevent eye discomfort.
