Dry autumn throat itch

Every day at home, I yearn for the times when I could dine out. A few days ago, on a whim, I made a spicy chicken hotpot at home, but soon after, my throat became dry and parched. With more than half of the summer holidays over and the beginning of autumn having arrived, the climate is starting to get dry. Even if you don't eat spicy food, it's easy to experience a dry or even sore throat.

"No rain on the start of autumn means a dry and hot autumn." The day the start of autumn arrived was clear and sunny. Although we've entered the beginning of autumn, it doesn't mean autumn weather has truly arrived. The lingering heat of midsummer hasn't dissipated, which is why the start of autumn is also known as "Autumn Tiger."

With the arrival of the beginning of autumn, Yang energy gradually wanes, and Yin energy gradually grows. The air begins to dry, and the focus of health preservation is to nourish Yin and moisten dryness, and to tonify the spleen and nourish the stomach. Doing so can replenish the body's consumption during the summer and prepare it for winter.

During this period, you can drink more Fig and Poria tea. The ingredients are 5 dried figs and 5 grams of Poria cubes. Wash the ingredients, cut open the figs, place them in a thermos cup, add hot water, and steep for 15 minutes before drinking. This tea can moisten the lungs and relieve dryness, tonify the spleen, and benefit the stomach, making it especially suitable for the transition from summer to autumn.

Figs are sweet in taste, neutral in nature, and enter the Lung, Spleen, and Large Intestine meridians. They can tonify the spleen and benefit the stomach, clear the lungs and moisten dryness, reduce swelling and detoxify, and moisten the intestines and relieve constipation.

Poria is sweet in taste, neutral in nature, and enters the Heart and Spleen meridians. It can strengthen the spleen and calm the mind, tonify the spleen and benefit the heart, promote diuresis and drain dampness, and nourish the heart and calm the mind.

Since autumn dryness easily harms the lungs, in terms of diet, it's important to reduce spicy foods and increase sour foods, avoiding strong-flavored and pungent foods to prevent excessive lung qi. Eating more sour foods like grapes and pomelos can help enhance liver function and inhibit lung qi.
