Eating pace

How long does it take you to eat a meal? 10 minutes? 20 minutes? An hour? It takes 20 minutes for the "full" signal to fully reach the brain after eating a bite of food, so the ideal time to eat a meal is about 20 to 30 minutes. Avoid gobbling down your food.

The spleen and stomach are the "foundation of acquired constitution" and are responsible for the digestion and absorption of food, serving as the source of qi and blood production. When eating too quickly, without adequately chewing food, the stomach needs to increase stomach acid and time to break down the food, which will increase the burden on the spleen and stomach. If the brain does not receive the signal that you are full in time, it can easily lead to overeating and obesity. Eating quickly also causes blood sugar to rise rapidly, thereby accelerating insulin secretion and leading to fat accumulation.

In addition to paying attention to the pace of eating, you can use 3 grams of osmanthus and 1 piece of dried tangerine peel to strengthen the spleen and nourish the stomach. After washing the ingredients, put them in a thermos cup, add hot water, and steep for 15 minutes before drinking.

Osmanthus is warm in nature, has a pungent and fragrant taste, and enters the heart, spleen, liver, and stomach meridians. It can strengthen the spleen and stomach, eliminate food stagnation, and dispel cold in the stomach, making it particularly suitable for people with spleen and stomach deficiency and coldness.

Dried tangerine peel is warm in nature, has a pungent and bitter taste, and enters the spleen and lung meridians. It can strengthen the spleen and harmonize the stomach, help regulate qi, dry dampness and resolve phlegm, nourish and condition, and relieve feelings of abdominal distension.

7 to 11 am is the time when the spleen and stomach meridians are active. Eating a warm breakfast at this time can protect stomach qi, help the spleen and stomach function, and transport nutrients to the whole body. Eating should be regular, and chewing slowly helps the spleen and stomach to transport and transform. When eating, you should avoid looking at your phone and TV to prevent unconsciously speeding up swallowing.
