Drink three-bean soup during the dog days.

Today marks the "middle dog day" of Sanfutian, which is considered the hottest day of summer. Staying home every day to fight the pandemic, looking at the blue sky outside the window, I really miss the sun and the beach.

Sanfutian is the hottest period of the year, divided into early, middle, and late dog days. During this time, the "yang energy" of nature and the human body is at its peak, making the body particularly susceptible to internal heat. If cold or cooling foods are consumed to counteract this, it will inevitably deplete the body's yang energy and harm the functions of the spleen and stomach.

To combat the sweltering heat, on "middle dog day," the 3-bean soup is most suitable. Take 20g each of adzuki beans, mung beans, and black beans, soak them in water for one hour, then change the water and boil for about one hour until the beans are soft, then it's ready to drink.

Mung beans, sweet in taste and cold in nature, enter the heart and stomach meridians. They can clear heat, detoxify, relieve summer heat, and promote diuresis. Adzuki beans, sweet in taste and neutral in nature, enter the spleen, large intestine, and small intestine meridians. They can strengthen the spleen, promote diuresis, dispel blood stasis, and detoxify. Black beans, sweet in taste and neutral in nature, enter the spleen and kidney meridians. They can nourish the kidneys and yin, invigorate blood and promote diuresis, dispel wind, and detoxify.

If you are unable to make the 3-bean soup, you can brew tea with 3g each of honeysuckle and mint. After rinsing the ingredients, steep them in hot water for 5 minutes and it's ready to drink. This tea can clear heat and relieve summer heat, and dispel wind and heat. Honeysuckle, sweet in taste and cold in nature, enters the lung, stomach, and heart meridians. It can clear heat and detoxify, and dispel wind and heat. Mint leaves, pungent in taste and cool in nature, enter the lung and liver meridians. They can dispel wind and heat, cool and detoxify, clear the head and eyes, and regulate liver qi.

With the severe pandemic, everyone is fighting it at home, and it's also a good opportunity to escape the summer heat.
