Summer Three Flower Tea

We are about to enter "Mangzhong" (Grain in Ear), the ninth of the 24 solar terms. Mangzhong means that the rice grains have already formed "seeds" with fine "awns" growing on them.

At this time, the weather is often muggy and humid. We often drink a lot of plain water to cool down. If the water cannot be metabolized in time, it may lead to dampness stagnation, making people feel tired and sluggish, with heavy limbs and muscle aches. At this time, it is important to pay attention to the balance of yin and yang in the body, nourish the internal organs, enhance physical fitness, maintain smooth circulation of qi and blood, and allow toxins to be eliminated smoothly.

Use 10g of kapok flowers, 5g of honeysuckle, and 5g of chrysanthemum. Wash the ingredients, steep them in hot water for 10 minutes, and then drink.

This tea is suitable for summer consumption. It can relieve heat and dampness, and clear the lungs and relieve summer heat. However, it is not suitable for people with a deficient and cold spleen and stomach.

Kapok flower is sweet in taste, cool in nature, and enters the liver, spleen, and large intestine meridians. It can clear heat and dampness, relieve summer heat, stop bleeding, and treat enteritis and dysentery. Chrysanthemum is sweet and bitter in taste, slightly cold in nature, and enters the lung and liver meridians. It can dispel wind and clear heat, detoxify and reduce swelling, soothe the liver and improve eyesight, and calm liver yang. Honeysuckle is sweet in taste, cold in nature, and enters the lung, stomach, and heart meridians. It can clear heat and detoxify, and dispel wind-heat.

A while ago, kapok trees bore fruit, and cotton wool broke out of the pods, scattering in the air like falling snow. The ground was also covered with red kapok flowers, but consuming fresh kapok flowers can easily cause diarrhea. In addition, the flowers may carry insect eggs and sand, so it is not recommended to consume them.

In addition, many people like to cool down quickly. However, it is not advisable to take a shower immediately after sweating in the summer. It is best to rest for a while until you stop sweating before showering. When showering, it is also not advisable to use cold water to avoid the invasion of cold evil affecting the body.
