Improve dry eyes
Recently, I've been experiencing blurry vision, so I visited an optometrist for an eye exam. Thankfully, it wasn't a vision problem but rather insufficient tear production, compounded by wearing unsuitable contact lenses that caused the blurriness. Switching to new contact lenses made of a different material with higher oxygen permeability and water content improved the situation.
In addition to tear secretion leading to dry eyes, blockages near the roots of the upper and lower eyelashes can also impede oil secretion, affecting the lipid layer and causing dry eyes. Using a hot towel to warm the eyes can increase eye temperature, stimulate tear glands, oil glands, and blood circulation in the eyes, which helps alleviate dry eyes.
If you experience dry eyes, you can use 5 grams each of chrysanthemum, cassia seed, and plantain seed. Wash the ingredients and place them in a thermos, then add hot water and steep for 15 minutes before drinking.
This tea can prevent eye discomfort, relieve dry eyes, clear liver fire, nourish the eyes, and make them brighter.
Chrysanthemum has a sweet and bitter taste, is slightly cold in nature, and enters the lung and liver meridians. It can dispel wind and clear heat, detoxify and reduce swelling, soothe the liver and improve vision, and calm liver yang. Research has shown that drinking chrysanthemum tea for three consecutive weeks can effectively improve dry eye symptoms.
Cassia seed has a sweet, bitter, and salty taste, is slightly cold in nature, and enters the liver and large intestine meridians. It can lower blood pressure, clear liver fire and improve vision, moisten the intestines to promote bowel movements, and reduce fat for weight loss.
Plantain seed has a sweet taste, is cold in nature, and enters the liver, kidney, and lung meridians. It can clear liver fire and improve vision, clear heat and detoxify, promote urination and relieve dysuria, drain dampness and stop diarrhea, and clear the lungs and resolve phlegm. It is particularly effective for red, swollen eyes due to liver heat and dim vision.
