Give the gift of health
With only two weeks until Chinese New Year, all shops are seizing this golden opportunity to sell various festive gift boxes. The Consumer Council sampled 58 common Chinese New Year foods, many of which are essential chocolate and cookie gifts. Not only are these all high-fat and high-sugar foods, but 90% of the samples were found to contain contaminants and genotoxic carcinogens. Giving gifts is meant to be a blessing, but who would have thought that processed foods could potentially lead to cancer?
In recent years, there has been a growing trend of drinking tea. In addition to the ubiquitous Taiwanese milk tea, many people have started drinking tea for health. By simply steeping different ingredients that are both medicinal and edible, one can easily make a health-boosting tea at home to nourish the body. I've seen some teas on the market made from unknown granular solvents, or teas without tea bags, where the loose ingredients scatter everywhere, making them awkward to drink. I personally prefer seeing real, colorful ingredients inside transparent tea bags; it gives me confidence and makes me feel better when drinking it.
There's often a lot of philosophy behind New Year's gifting; you want to show thoughtfulness and make it presentable. This year, I've prepared a festive health tea gift set with different types of tea bags, free from additives, artificial colors, and preservatives, offering a healthy and simple way to nourish the body. 1. Sweet Sleep and Calming Tea: a sleep savior that improves sleep quality, relieves tension, and calms emotions; 2. Rose and Red Date Tea: replenishes vital energy, nourishes blood and calms the mind, soothes the liver and relieves depression, and beautifies the skin; 3. Health-Boosting Barley Tea: relieves food stagnation, aids digestion, soothes the stomach and quenches thirst, and boosts vital energy; 4. Jasmine and Mulberry Leaf Tea: soothes the liver and brightens the eyes, moisturizes and beautifies the skin, promotes hair growth, and clears heat and detoxifies.
